MMFF 2013 My Little Bossings - A Bloggers Night

Here in the Philippines, besides Christmas, another unique thing that happens on December 25 and that is the beginning of the Metro Manila Film Festival. I'm pretty much sure there are a lot of wonderful movies to watch this year's film festival but if you want to watch a wholesome, funny, and family oriented movie - MY LITTLE BOSSINGS is your best bet!

Just a few weeks ago, I was invited to the MY LITTLE BOSSINGS Blogger's Night - a bloggers' conference at Anabel's at Tomas Morato. For the first time, I was able to see the Bossing Vic Sotto and the charming little bossing Ryzza Mae Dizon and hear them talk all about the movie My Little Bossings. Just to be able to see Boss Vic up close and personal had me a bit starstruck after all, I did grow up watching him everyday on Eat Bulaga ever since I was a kid! hehe. Miss Bibeth Orteza, the writer for My Little Bossings, was also there to share how this movie came about.

I really enjoyed this "press conference" with the bloggers because indeed Boss Vic made it easy for us. Without a lot of prodding, he shared his heart out on how and why the film came to be, how fun and also challenging it was filming it especially with the two child stars Ryzza and Bimby, and why this is the must watch MMFF movie this year. In fact he proudly said that this was one of his best movies so far. Wow that's surprising especially after all the hi-tech fantasy movies he has done so far (Enteng Kabisote). I guess maybe because the movie is all heart - nakakataba ng puso so to speak!

“My Little Bossings” is a movie whose time has come. Ever since the project was bared, the public has been counting months, waiting with bated breath how the precocious Ryzza Mae Dizon will jive with the decorous James “Bimby” Aquino Yap, Both charming and intelligent, but one street smart and the other “socially elite,” it’s an intriguing pairing indeed.

How did this movie came about?
According to Boss Vic, he decided he wanted a change from the challenging fantasy scene (he went on to assure that Enteng Kabisote wasn't retiring.. just taking a break) and decided to pursue this project that he wanted to have with the child stars Ryzza Mae and Bimby. He recalled a talk he had with Kris Aquino about Bimby collaborating for a movie. After a call, the rest is history! With the help of Miss Bibeth Orteza, the story materialized. Yes, the movie was made with the two child stars in mind so it wasn't that hard or challenging for the kids.

How were the child stars able to cope with each other and the shooting of the film?

As shooting progressed and as the two kids warmed up to each other and established rapport on and off screen, it became clear that “My Little Bossings” is more than mere curious case. It’s a casting dynamo bound to shakeup the MMFF and steal thunder from anything that crosses its path. “Nakakatuwa talaga yung dalawang bata. They complement each other so well. You can see that when you watch the movie. Nagtuturuan, nagtatawanan, sabay napapagod, sabay nagugutom. Masaya lang kami sa set. Para lang kaming laging naglalaro,” said “My Little Bossings” lead star and co-producer, Vic Sotto.

According to Boss Vic, working with the child stars was fun and easy. He definitely knew how to deal with them, and that's by playing with them! Acting and interacting with them on and off screen was easier because he established good rapport with them through joking, teasing, and playing with them. According to Ryzza, one of their favorite games to play (probably during breaks) was bato-bato-pick! Both Boss Vic and Ryzza shared that at first Bimby was a bit stiff because of course they just got to meet with him but after a while they all were good friends. Harutan or wrestling with Bimby was how Boss Vic bonded with him. Acting was natural because of the incredible script as well. With this kind of atmosphere during the filming, I can definitely see the movie becoming a hit!

That is another thing going for the film: the sure success of “My Little Bossings” doesn’t rest just on the shoulders of Ryzza Mae and Bimby, but those of giants. One of the MMFF Box-office King’s co-stars is also royalty, none other than Queen of All Media and MMFF Box-office Queen Kris Aquino. It is said that one of Kris’ reasons in accepting the film is that she wanted her son Bimby’s first experience in making movies to be with someone of Vic’s stature and humility.

For years, the MMFF doesn’t seem to be complete without a starrer from either Vic or Kris or both. This time they join hands; matching stellar power with stellar power, showbiz might with showbiz might, midas touch with midas touch. How can “My Little Bossings” not turn to gold?

As most things come in threes, the power of the dream project doesn’t end there. “My Little Bossings” is produced by OctoArts Films, M-Zet Films, APT Entertainment and Kris Aquino Productions all of which have brought out their guns to ensure that it is a heartwarming, quality movie through and through. More than the big names attached to the film, “My Little Bossings” is a family film packed with lessons wrapped in humor, wit and laughter---exactly what we need in times like these.

Sabi nga ni Boss Vic, we need something to lift our spirits or humor up. And this movie seems to do the trick. Laughter is said to be the best medicine. And this film is up to the challenge to bring delight and laughter to us all.

And it looks like My Little Bossings has indeed stolen the hearts of many of us because My Little Bossings is currently on the  NO. 1 spot according to the official twitter page of Metro Manila Film Festival! Yup, this really makes me want to go to the movies and watch it. :) So my dear coffeeholics, if this hasn't convinced you yet to watch My Little Bossings, well then watch this trailer to learn more about the storyline.

My Little Bossings -- Vic plays the role Torky Villanueva who works as a bookeeper for the millionaire cash management specialist Baba Atienza (Kris). Because of some conflict in her business, Baba entrusts her son Justin (Bimby) to Torky’s care for fear of her life. In the meantime, Torky’s niece Ice (Aiza) who lives in the same house with him, is involved in an advocacy for street children where street kid Ching (Ryzza ) becomes her special ward. Ice brings Ching home when the orphanage closed down. The fun begins when all these people start living in one roof while they each tackle his respective personal dilemma.

“My Little Bossings” also stars Aiza Seguerra, Jaclyn Jose, Jose Manalo, Paolo Ballesteros, Barbie Forteza, Neil Coleta, and Neil Sese from the direction of Marlon Rivera. Story and screenplay by Bibeth Orteza.

So coffeeholics if you haven't watched it yet.. well go watch My Little Bossings - a fun filled family oriented movie for this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. Let me know what you think of the movie!

OOTD - Feeling Professional and Hunger Games Review

Top - Thrifted
Jeans - Landmark
Boots - gift from Aunt
Necklace - gift from my student
Ring - SM Accessories
Bag - Tomato

Hey Coffeeholics! Its been a while since I've worn jeans for my OOTD but it was raining when I wore this a week or two ago. The top is one of my smart casual/preppy look pegs whenever I'm in the mood to go all out and fashown fashown or when the occasion calls for a more "serious or professional" look. Hehe. But its definitely one of my favorite staples in my closet coz it has never let me down! I'm sure you have tops or outfits like that in your closet. What's yours?

Anyway, I don't think its an appropriate outfit though if I wanted to reflect my fandomness for the Hunger Games! When I wore that outfit, I was thinking more on the lines of comfort and not getting too cold in the cinema house. Yes I was able to watch it and even though I wasn't able to gush and immediately blog about it, I'd still like to give my opinion about it.

Book vs. Movie. Honestly speaking, I think they did a really good job. With the limited time that they had, they were able to put the important parts of the book in the movie. Though there were a lot of details omitted from the book which you can easily detect if you read the book first before the movie- I think overall it was done as best as it could be. Here are some of the things I'm so glad that was kept true to the book!

1. Capitol Fashion. When I read the book last year, the fashion that was being described in the book really blew me away. I couldn't quite imagine how it would be pulled off if they made it to the big screen. Now that  I've seen it - I absolutely loved it! I know that even some people might even wear some of the attire portrayed there.
Tessa Prieto-Valdez
for Hunger Games Capoitol Fashion?
I know that our very own Tessa Prieto-Valdez would fit right in the capitol crowd eh? hehe! Hey Coffeeholics what do you think? Swak b? Their similarities in fashion and in the celebrity business is uncanny. Effie Trinket vs. Tessa Prieto-Valdez...I wonder who will win? What do you think hmmm?

2. Cinna - Katniss' personal stylist during the Hunger Games. Lenny Kravitz not only looked the part but it felt like he was indeed Cinna! Cinna played an important part and made an impact in Katniss' life during the first book. I was a bit disappointed though at the interpretation of Cinna's dresses for the film.

I felt it didn't convey the shocking and amazing impact the dresses had in the book. Still the essence and the vital parts of the outfit was still there producing the desired "effects" that Cinna himself would be happy to see.

3. Unsappy Love Triangle. I am very pleased with the portrayal of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. She was able to capture the no nonsense attitude of Katniss. I love how strong her character was portrayed in the film. It is almost the same as in the book. Same goes for her lovelife! Her awkward friendship/budding relationship with Gale vs. her also awkward love/hate relationship with Peeta really overwhelms the audience. I could hear the collective ooohs, ahhhs, and sighs of the crowd in the movie house as they felt for the two lead male characters in Katniss' life. I wasn't expecting Gale to look like that. But Peeta looked and felt the part almost exactly as in the book. And I for one love the fact that Katniss isn't all lovey dovey and angsty and anxious about the two guys in her life. There is a reason why she chooses a guy in her life. And well, you end up understanding and sympathizing with her choice. But basically my dear coffeeholics, it will now boil down to just one question. Are you Team GALE or Team Peeta? Me? I'm all for Team Peeta. His blind love, loyalty, and dedication to Katniss is just unbeatable. For me, it beats Gale's good looks by a handful. Haha!

So dear coffeeholics, I'm pretty sure I gave you a lot of things to think about or react about. So let me know your votes! Effie Trinket vs. Tessa Prieto Valdez and Team Gale vs. Team Peeta?

OOTD - Plaid and Sherlock Holmes 2

This is what I wore when I was at Yabu:
Plaid Top - Bazaar
Black Tank Top - Random bazaar
Denim Shorts - Greenhills
Black Boots - Vintage
Accessories on right hand - SM Accessories
Watch - Timex
Necklace - belongs to my Sis
Hey Coffeeholics! How was your week? Lately the weather has been quite bipolar! The erratic changes of weather has been affecting my health but Thank You God I'm ok now and coping with the weather. Anyway, I've recently been enjoying wearing denim shorts. Haha. I'm not used to wearing shorts a lot but its really more practical during hot humid days. Especially when I'm commuting. The dark pink plaid top has been with me for years a while and I'm glad finally that I was able to wear it again. Plaid is definitely one fashion statement that has been around for centuries. Think Mel Gibson in Braveheart.. yes, that infamous piece of cloth they wrap around their lower bodies (aka skirts.. hehehe). Plaid fashion was originally more categorized as part of men's fashion but has made its crossover to us gals. Lucky us! Some say that plaid is out or that its sooo over. Guess again dearies.. I just checked out some department stores and its still in abundance!

Speaking of plaid reminds me of Scotland Yard.. and SHERLOCK HOLMES! Oh yeah! I finally was able to watch Sherlock Holmes 2 - A Game of Shadows with my bff Naomi. We watched it last Friday after work. She was my movie partner when Sherlock Holmes 1 came out. Super Kilig!!!  Haha.. I have a huge crush on Robert Downey Jr. and Naomi has a huge crush on Jude Law. Hahaha so magkasundo kami - walang away! Oh diba.. Eye Candy!

And yes, Sherlock Holmes 2 is definitely worth watching! I swear, this movie is one of the rare movies where the 2nd Movie is even sooooo much better than the first. Promise! It has more action, more funny moments, and more mind boggling Sherlock Holmes' eccentricities and awesome powers of observation which I absolutely adore. I don't watch movies often (coz honestly I really can't stomach the movie prices nowadays..) but this movie was absolutely worth every cent. There were times where me and Naomi were laughing so hard and then to only find out later that we were the only ones laughing.. haha. I think maybe its coz there were only a number of people in the cinema (less than 50).

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson
In this particular scene, I find Jude Law as Watson super duper hot!
This particular evening attire looks really smart and handsome on him.
Particularly the scenes when he was playing cards!
Agree?
Three things you should watch out for in the movie are the Sherlock Holmes epic disguises, Sherlock Holmes' brother, and the wedding of Dr.Watson. Anyway I don't want to spoil the movie too much. Its so much better if you watch it instead. Naomi has already completed the whole Sherlock Holmes series in print and she explained to me that several of the scenes in the movie were taken from various books (much like Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief!). So it might be confusing for those who have read it already. I think they did it like that so that the movie would be more interesting and more action packed then ever. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to watching part 3 of this movie (hopefully there will be a part 3).

So Coffeeholics, if you haven't been able to watch Sherlock Holmes yet, I strongly suggest you do! Its one of the must watch movies for January! Let me know what you think!

Mwah mwah,
